I am excited to announce that JKS Incorporated has been certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
Founded in 1997, WBENC has since become a leader in women’s business development and the nation’s largest third-party certifier of businesses owned by women. Fueled by the mission to foster global economic growth by identifying, certifying, and facilitating the development of women-owned businesses, WBENC has partnered with 14 Regional Partner Organizations (RPOs) and certified more than 17,000 WBEs across the United States.
To qualify for the WBENC Certification, a business must be at least 51% owned, operated, controlled, and managed by a woman or women. Put simply, this means a woman or women:
- Must have unrestricted control of the business
- Manage day-to-day operations
- Have a proportionate investment of capital or expertise
After conducting a thorough review and site inspection of JKS Incorporated, the Greater Women’s Business Council (North Carolina’s WBENC RPO) granted us with our National Women’s Business Enterprise Certification on August 11th.
Because of the extensive qualification process, WBENC Certification is considered to be the gold standard and most widely respected certification for WBEs in the United States. The certification is recognized and accepted by numerous states, cities, government entities, and more than 1,000 corporations representing America’s most reputable brands.
By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, these corporations and government agencies are demonstrating their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs. Our WBENC Certification has already proven to be a credential that our existing clients are very interested in, as many of them also track their diverse spend and have diversity requirements to meet.
After a six-month-long process, I am extremely proud to be included among this prestigious group of women who are helping other women grow their businesses. As a company, we hope that our WBENC Certification allows us new opportunities and helps us grow and cultivate our existing relationships.
